...there was only black and white.
Pen, ink and paper unadulterated or enhanced.
Then came a few tentative additions, very much like hand-colored photographs (in intent only as the images themselves would not likely be found in reality to be photographed.)
With time and friendly persuasion and endless patience the use of color grew and flourished until there was a drunken profusion of rampant, wild, intense, joyous, visionary imagery and as yet, little regret.
